Science Intent
At Colburn Community Primary School, we encourage children to ask questions and explore the world around them and beyond. Our Science curriculum aims to develop a healthy curiosity in children about our universe and promote respect for the living and non-living.
Through working scientifically the acquisition of knowledge, concepts, skills and positive attitudes begins to develop and grow from Nursery (FS1) right through to KS2. Within the programmes of study, the children will acquire and develop the key knowledge that has been identified within each unit and across each year group, as well as the application of scientific skills. We aim to foster a love of learning encouraging the children to apply their knowledge of science when using equipment, conducting experiments and explaining concepts confidently. We want our children to continue to ask questions and be curious about their surroundings and take ownership of their own learning.
