French Intent

At Colburn Community Primary School, our intent is to encourage children to learn a foreign language in a way that is enjoyable and stimulating. Our French language curriculum is designed to help children develop a natural curiosity towards other cultures and countries, as well as to provide various ways to express themselves.
Through our curriculum, our focus is to strengthen speaking and listening skills which helps to create an understanding of the diverse world around them. Primarily in KS2, our topics are centred on colours, animals, food and common phrases, which they can then apply to their everyday lives. We do this so that we can set the foundation for developing a second language as they progress onto secondary school and even further in their education.
